The third week of November will see Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Strip transformed into an F1 racing circuit as the world’s best drivers compete in the Las Vegas Grand Prix. We’ll discuss the efforts it took to make the race possible, F1’s plans to create year-round activities in Vegas, how the Las Vegas Grand Prix fits into F1’s growth strategy in the U.S., and much more.

In early 2024 a new era in golf and TV production will begin with the launch of TGL Golf, a new mixed reality golf event that will embrace new technologies and allow for golfers to compete indoors in a 135,000 sq. ft facility. TGL Golf will be produced by TMRW Sports, co-founded by Mike McCarley former NBC Sports Executive Mike McCarley and PGA legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. Andrew Macaulay, TMRW Golf, CTO and Ken Aagaard, VP of Broadcast Technology discuss their plans to get TGL Golf up and running as well as the technologies that will make it all happen.

HBS has established a subsidiary to develop broadcast opportunities and cover projects hosted in the U.S. and North America. Based out of Miami and led by José ‘Platao’ Rocha, who joins HBS in the role of Managing Director of the U.S. entity, it gives the U.S. sports production community another player in the market while also helping HBS on multiple fronts. Rocha sits down with SVG’s Ken Kerschbaumer to discuss the launch, goals, and what lies ahead.

This year’s SVG Chairman’s Forum Workshop is focused on HDR. Featuring leaders in HDR workflows from the U.S. and Europe our goal is to update everyone on the current state of HDR around the world, discuss the best ways to create a single-stream production that meets both SDR and HDR needs, and educate attendees on key concepts like gamut and tone mapping, floating point conversions, and much more.

TOPIC 1 | ONE SCHEMA TO RULE THEM ALL?
SportsML and Future of Metadata Models
The IPTC’s SportsML serves as an open, standard for the interchange of sports data and is used by major news organizations to cover Olympics, World Cup, and regional championships, as well as domestic and local competitions. This open conversation will explore how sports-media organizations can potentially work together to identify key fields and devise a common nomenclature in order to create an open, universal metadata standard across the industry.

TOPIC 2 | THE NEXT WAVE OF AI AND ML
How can ChatGPT be Leveraged for MAM Workflows?
The question of how ML and AI can be applied against vast media archives has taken center stage recently with the rise of ChatGPT and other Intuitive AI tools. How can AI potentially significantly change how players, coaches, GMs, and fans perceive and enjoy sports? What are the best practical use-cases and examples of where this could create efficiencies in content access and research? What are the risks, what are the benefits, and how will these tools play a role in your organization over the next 2-3 years?

How Are the Changing Economics of the Cloud Impacting MAM?
The M&E cloud ecosystem has changed dramatically over the past few years as the major cloud providers like AWS, Google, and Microsoft have responded to changing trends around storage tiering and added a variety of next-gen tools in their respective environments. Meanwhile, mid-tier providers such as Wasabi and Seagate are offering flat pricing with no egress fees, and Google responding with new offers such as Autoclass. This conversation will delve into how these changing cloud economics are impacting mediamanagement workflows.

TOPIC 4 | CONSOLIDATION AND M&A
How It’s Impacting the Media-Management Sector
Over the past decade, the M&E industry has seen significant consolidation by both major media companies and technology vendors. As result, there are often fewer choices available when mediamanagement leaders are exploring new tools and systems. Will MAM even be a standalone business in the future or just an application as part of a larger media ecosystem? This bonus conversation will take a hard look at how the recent tidal wave of M&A has impacted the media-management sector.

CLOSING TOPIC | CRYSTAL-BALL PREDICTIONS
Five Years, 10 Years, and 20 Years Ahead
For the second consecutive year, the day will close with an interactive exercise in which each roundtable participant will write three predictions on colored sticky notes — a different color for five years, for 10 years, and for 20 years in the future. These predictions will be assembled on a whiteboard and reviewed by the entire group to provide a glimpse into the future of media-asset management and storage, while getting a few laughs in the process.
