Mark Anderson, Seagate Technology, Manager, Channel Systems and Solutions Sales Team

Mark Anderson has been involved in the media and entertainment industry for over 20 years, initially as an actor and producer. In 2009, he crossed over to the dark side (into sales), transitioning from “user” of storage to “pusher.”  Since then, Anderson has helped numerous customers streamline their storage workflows. He also has helped drive M&E strategy with multiple major manufacturers of data storage, including Seagate, where he has been for the last five years. At Seagate, Anderson is responsible for sales of Enterprise Data Systems into multiple verticals, including M&E, in the United States. He currently manages their Systems & Solutions Sales Team.

Brent Angle, CineSys, CTO

Current CTO, Brent Angle helped form CineSys with the goal of focusing on strong engineering services and consulting to support broadcast, post-production, VFX, animation, and film customers.

Angle currently manages a team that includes engineering support staff and data system integrators, as well as custom engineering design and software development. He realized early on that the ever-changing standards and formats of manufacturers would create a demand for a higher level of expertise in the implementation of infrastructure to support the networking, workflow, storage, and archiving of massive digital files. He knew it would be an important part of the industry’s future, and thus began a focused effort to build relationships and partnerships with the key partners and vendors that influence this business sector.

Nick Ashwin, Imagen, Chief Revenue Officer -– Americas

Nick Ashwin is the chief revenue officer of the Americas at Imagen and has 15 years of experience consulting with sports, media, and enterprise organizations on their video management and distribution strategy.

Having begun his career in the UK-based Imagen development team in 2008, Ashwin subsequently moved to the U.S. and began leading Imagen’s American expansion, growing the Imagen team and client base over a period of 12 years. He was heavily involved in Imagen’s early transition to a cloud native architecture and has a passion for lean UIX and technology that provides a measurable ROI.

With Ashwin’s help, Imagen has solidified itself as one of the leading sports video management and distribution platforms across the globe.

Padraic Boyle, MLB Advanced Media, Senior Director, Enterprise Media

Padraic Boyle joined Major League Baseball in February of 2008 as part of its information-technology transformation. In his role as business relationship manager, he provided technical direction to the business verticals of the Office of the Commissioner and also served as a technical liaison to MLB Productions and MLB Network.

Reaching into his rich media background, Boyle took on the role of technical lead for MLB and architected the league’s digital-asset-management system, the DIAMOND Platform, which was nominated for the 2012 Sports Emmy George Wensel Technical Achievement Award. The DIAMOND Platform is hosted in MLB’s Secaucus facility where it serves MLB Productions and MLB Network. DIAMOND also has a cloud-based presence to facilitate video services for internal departments within the Commissioner’s Office, Clubs, and MLB.com.

Prior to joining Major League Baseball, Boyle was the VP of technology for Venaca. Venaca was a systems integrator with a unique set of applications which primarily addressed digital asset management/media asset management (DAM/MAM) solutions for the broadcast industry. Clientele included Lifetime Television, MTV, Scripps, Turner Broadcasting, and the Paley Center for Media.

Before Venaca, Boyle worked for Lifetime Television and was heavily involved in the architecting, development, and implementation of Lifetime Television’s digital asset management system from the ground up. This involved ingest and archive to tracking and repurposing content owned and/or purchased for distribution on Lifetime’s networks. Boyle was also the co-principal and VP of technology for DataVision, a systems integration and consulting company in the magazine publishing, financial, and television broadcast industries.

Roy Burns, IMT, SVP, Media Solutions

Roy Burns has over 20 years of experience advising clients in the media and entertainment sector. After graduating from Musicians Institute in 2002, he stayed on as a professor of Recording Theory, and Pro Tools 101 until 2008 when he joined Crown Media Family Networks as director of media operations.

At Crown, Burns owned the development and implementation of media asset management leveraging both on-premise and cloud based architectures. During his tenure, Crown Media’s original content creation grew by more than 400% and saw the launch of two additional 24-hour networks, as well as their OTT and SVOD initiatives.

Today, Burns is on the forefront of emerging media workflows and technologies. He is an active member of both SMPTE and HPA. At IMT, Burns is a member of the Advanced Consulting Team with a primary focus on MAM and workflow orchestration. He partners with clients to map their current and future media workflows and define best practices, as well as recommend and implement scalable, forward looking solutions.

Rex Canning, WWE, Senior Director of Media Management Services

Rex Canning is the senior director of media management services at WWE. He and his team are responsible for fulfilling the company’s day to day media management needs and execution of migration projects. Canning works with producers, editors, and engineers to build workflows that support the company’s production staff and network delivery teams. Hailing from Brooklyn, NY he has a been working in professional media creation since 2009 with a primary focus on post production and archive for the past decade. Starting out his career as a set PA on Law & Order, Canning eventually moved into the advertising and news industries; now drawing on that experience directing archive and media management strategy for WWE.

Byron Chapman, PGA TOUR, Director of Media Asset Management & Media Workflows

Byron Chapman has over 20 years of experience working in various areas of production and post-production (vault manager, assistant editor, editor, DIT, shooter, fulfillment manager, media asset manager).

Last year, he wrapped up a multi-year project of migrating over 20 petabytes of high-res, mezzanine, and low-res proxy video files into a fully cloud-based MAM system. Currently, Chapman is busy planning and testing new post-production and MAM equipment and workflows for the new 165,000 sq ft PGA TOUR Studios broadcast facility that the team will move into in January 2025. 

Chapman’s day-to-day consists of overseeing the MAM department and supporting 15 editors and 65 producer/editors on various software applications and post-production workflows.

Brandon Costa, SVG, Director of Digital

Brandon Costa covers the sports video production industry with a focus on live streaming, over-the-top (OTT), social media, and other digital distribution technologies and platforms. He also directs SVG’s internal digital strategies launching the company’s video outfit, ‘SVG On Demand,’ designing and overseeing its mobile application, ‘SVG Mobile,’ and serving as executive producer and host of The SVG Podcast. Costa serves as program director of networking events serving the SVG College and SVG Digital communities. Prior to his time at SVG, Costa spent five years producing digital content for MLB Advanced Media.

Chris Cruz, CBS Sports, Senior Director of Media Services

Chris Cruz is the senior director of media services for CBS Sports. He is responsible for the proper management of all digital asset management systems developed for CBS Sports studio and remote productions. He also oversees the personnel utilized for the acquisition, distribution, and archiving of all digital content.

Cruz started working with CBS Sports in 2012 as the manager of digital archives. In this role, he developed the division’s first digital asset archive. He also led the team of media managers responsible for the strategic digitization and archiving of CBS Sports legacy programming.

Having developed these systems from the ground up has given Cruz a keen understanding of digital content management. He’s also a key contributor to the development of all cloud and AI initiatives at CBS Sports.

Jason Dachman, SVG, Chief Editor; SVG Sports Content Management Forum, Program Director

Jason Dachman oversees all aspects of SVG’s North American editorial operations, including the thrice-weekly SVG Insider newsletter and SVG’s annual print publications. A member of the SVG team since 2009, Dachman also serves as program director for SVG’s RSN Summit, Sports Content Management Forum, Sports Graphics Forum, and TranSPORT event. Prior to joining SVG, he spent three years covering local sports for The Patriot Ledger in Quincy, MA, and two years on the production staff of SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s The Ron & Fez Show. Dachman began his career in the Sports Information Department at Northeastern University in Boston, where he also earned a B.A. in media communications and cinema studies.

Matt Gaede, Signiant, VP, Global Customer Acquisition

Matt Gaede started with Signiant when the first SaaS products for media and entertainment were pioneered. Currently acting as vice president of global customer acquisitions for Signiant, Gaede worked his way up from inside sales manager and sales director roles to his current position. His rise within the company is due to his leadership-building skills and ability to scale goal-oriented teams. Gaede’s focus continues to be making metric-based decisions to best position sales individuals and teams to increase revenue, grow market share, and increase efficiency.

Gaede has worked exclusively in the SaaS field since 2010 holding a previous position as team lead with AppNeta. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Roger Williams University.

Hugo Gaggioni, Sony Electronics Inc., Chief Technology Officer

Hugo Gaggioni is chief technology officer of Sony Electronics Inc.

Gaggioni, who joined Sony in 1988, holds several patents and has authored more than 40 technical publications in the areas of video compression, digital filter banks, HDTV, and UHDTV devices and systems. Prior to joining Sony, he worked at RCA Corporation and Bell Communications Research.

Gaggioni was a member of the Advanced Television Advisory group to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission from 1987 to 1994. He is also a Fellow of SMPTE and the recipient of the 2004 Leitch Gold Medal award, and the 2018 David Sarnoff Medal Award. In 2008, Gaggioni received the U.S. Broadcasting and Cable Technology Leadership Award. In addition, in 2019, he received the Charles F. Jenkins Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award and in 2021, he became a member of the Sports Video Group’s Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

Gaggioni holds degrees in telecommunications, systems engineering, and electronic engineering from the University of Essex in Colchester, England, University of Pennsylvania, and Columbia University, respectively.

Gregg Katano is a 30+ year entertainment professional, international speaker, emerging media and tech strategist, and educator.

Currently, he is SVP of strategic partnerships and business development of the Medici Media and Medici Interactive divisions of Medici XD, an award-winning experience strategy, design, and production group with clients including The Walt Disney Company, Universal Parks and Resorts, SeaWorld Entertainment, NASA, One World Trade Center, Ferrari, and many others.

Katano is also partner at Hologate, the world’s most successful immersive media company for location-based entertainment (16,000,000+ players to-date across 42 countries worldwide); head of events for the Emerging Media peer group of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences; former co-vice chair of the Producers Guild of America ‘New Media Council’; and advisory member, SXSW ‘Accelerator’. Alex Keighley is an industry veteran who has worked for media owners, news agencies, and media technology companies for more than 30 years. Keighley currently leads the U.S. sales team for Telestream, working with media owners, sports leagues, rights holders, teams, and venues all over the country.

Ken Kerschbaumer, SVG, Co-Executive Director, Editorial

Ken Kerschbaumer is co-executive director of editorial services for the Sports Video Group and SVG Europe. He was a co-founder of SVG along with Paul Gallo and Marty Porter in 2005 and has been writing about how sports networks and leagues use video and audio technology to deliver a quality TV experience since 1991. Kerschbaumer began his career in 1991 at Television Broadcast magazine before joining Cahners where he was founding editor of Digital Broadcasting magazine. In 2000, he joined Broadcasting & Cable magazine as senior editor of technology where he covered all aspects of broadcasting, cable, and internet content creation and distribution.

Paul Kelly, IPTC, Sports Content Working Group Lead; The Canadian Press, Associate Director, Content Operations

Paul Kelly is associate director, content operations at The Canadian Press and lead of the IPTC’s Sports Content Group. He co-founded sports data integration firm XML Team Solutions. Kelly has also worked on major sports data integrations for broadcast and web with clients that include BBC, the Associated Press, the New York Times, Univision, Google, and CBC. He has lost count of the number of sports schemas he has worked with.

Dave Klee, A+E Networks, VP, Strategic Media Solutions

David Klee is the vice president of strategic media solutions at A+E Networks, a global entertainment and media company with cable television channels including A&E, History, FYI, Viceland, and Lifetime. He is building a new technology team based in New York, focused on engineering and strategy for media supply chain systems, leveraging the cloud to drive agile transformations.

Jim Miles, NBC Sports & Olympics, Senior Director, Live Event Workflows

Jim Miles is responsible for the design and implementation of NBC Sports and Olympics systems for intake, postproduction, and asset management workflows for domestic and international sports coverage. He was formerly a project manager for NBC News engineering in New York and has spent the last 15 years with NBC modernizing post production workflows and implementing large scale editing, playback, and MAM systems.

Luke Nihart, Quantum, VP, Global Accounts

Luke Nihart is the vice president of global accounts for Quantum and has been a sales leader in the global M&E storage space for over 13 years leading teams that have designed and deployed multi-exabyte storage and compute solutions globally. Prior to Quantum, Nihart held management roles at Dell and Cisco where he led global high-tech sales engagement. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and computer science and an MBA in finance from the University of California, Davis.

Grant Nodine, NHL, SVP, Technology

Grant Nodine started his career working as a systems librarian at Editel. He moved on to working as a web developer on sites like Rodale Press’s MensHealth.com. He later co-founded a web development firm called Mercury Seven where he worked as the firm’s chief technologist. Twenty-plus years ago, Nodine arrived at the NHL where he has been involved in building a technology infrastructure that supports NHL.com and all 30 of the team’s websites, numerous systems to produce and deliver streaming media, and many other large technology implementations.

Keifer O’Connor, PGA TOUR, Director of Media Rights Management

Keifer O’Connor is the director of media rights management for the PGA TOUR. His team supports the PGA TOUR’s media partnerships’ content use, providing strategic support to ensure the needs of partners and constituents are met while staying within the bounds of PGA TOUR content guidelines. They monitor the use of TOUR owned content across all media platforms, apply PGA TOUR policies to protect the media rights of partners and players, and oversee all PGA TOUR content policies and guidelines, including on-site filming, footage licensing, and still images. O’Connor directly negotiates various rights allowances for the PGA TOUR to use third-party content and has been involved with the creation of various PGA TOUR media policies for media, players, and sponsors.

A native of Jacksonville, FL, O’Connor graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He began his career with the PGA TOUR in 2012 in the Production Business Operations and Production Scheduling departments and developed the Media Rights Management group in 2020 to encompass all media rights aspects with the PGA TOUR.

Ian Owen, Riot Games, Manager, Media Asset Management, Esports

Ian Owen started his career working in broadcasting for the Memphis Grizzlies and NBA Entertainment. After falling into the MAM world during eight years in professional basketball, he made the move to the collegiate ranks. For five years, Owen built workflows and provided asset management as a service to the University of Notre Dame as a part of ND Studios. He joined Riot Games late in 2022 as the global manager of media asset management for the esports pillar and now oversees a growing team in Dublin, Ireland and Seattle, where he is based today. Owen and the Global Content Operations team are excited to build a content services platform that will set the standard for the future of esports and beyond.

Philippe Petitpont, Newsbridge, CEO and Co-Founder

Philippe Petitpont co-founded Newsbridge to tackle the challenge of managing the overwhelming amount of video content generated by media rights holders. As CEO, he signed Newsbridge’s first customers in 2017 and grew the company in the broadcast and sports industries. Newsbridge has focused on AI for video indexing since its early days and recently launched MXT-1, an AI capable of describing video sequences like a human. Since 2019, Petitpont has focused on scaling Newsbridge globally, partnering with international TV networks, press agencies, and sports organizations. Before founding Newsbridge, he spent eight years as a broadcast engineer with TF1 and worked for the French media group M6.

Andrew Reich, AWS, Senior Consultant, Sports, Professional Services

Andrew Reich joined Amazon Web Services in January 2020. He is currently a senior sports consultant for AWS’ M&E Professional Services group. Reich works with customers and partners on migrating their solutions to the cloud, in addition to driving technological innovation in sports. He has led major cloud adoption initiatives and projects involving live and post production, Visual Effects (VFX) rendering, content data and analytics, media pipeline, and services deployment.

Prior to AWS, Reich spent eight plus years working for the MLB and NHL Networks on the media services team. He is a seven-time Sports Emmy award winner and graduated from Syracuse University.

Scott Rinehart, University of Notre Dame, Director, Broadcast and Streaming Technologies

Scott Rinehart is the director of broadcast and streaming technologies for the University of Notre Dame, responsible for providing technical direction and oversight of Notre Dame Studios’ production infrastructure.

Prior to Notre Dame, Rinehart worked in a variety of roles at NASCAR Media Group and PGA Tour Productions.

In 2013, Notre Dame won the inaugural SVG/NACDA Technology Leadership Award.

A native of Jacksonville, FL, Rinehart is a 1984 graduate of the University of Alabama, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. While in school, he served as a student trainer under legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant.
