SVG SportsTech On Demand: Imagine Communications' Cassidy Phillips on Connecting Texas A&M's Athletic Venues With SMPTE 2110 IP

In an effort to keep the broadcast-technology community informed this spring, throughout April, SVG is hosting a series of SportsTech On Demand video interviews with executives from the industry’s top technology vendors discussing their latest product releases and company news. Our Ken Kerschbaumer sat down with Cassidy Phillips, VP SA, networking group, Imagine Communications, about the company’s efforts.

Texas A&M University plays a myriad of national sports to the highest level, and each of its stadiums is set up for both broadcast coverage and audience enrichment via scoreboards and other public screens. All seven athletic venues are now linked back to a central production area with four control rooms in Kyle Field, the college’s football stadium. In this interview, Phillips breaks down how these links use SMPTE ST 2110 IP connectivity over fiber, providing 32 bidirectional HD links between any location, using Imagine Selenio Network Processors (SNP) as gateways and for video processing. The network, an important stepping stone to all-IP production, provides flexibility and resilience.
